Trichology

Our hair has very important functions besides its important role as a physical barrier and protective coating from damaging sun rays or debris. Hair is used for the differentiation of the individual and for beautification. Therefore, any pathological condition can seriously affect our perception of personal health as well as our self-esteem.

Recognizing the exceptional role of trichology as a subspecialty of dermatology we strive to offer the most advanced and evidence based diagnostic procedures (Trichoscopy, Trichoscale®) and a patient-tailored treatment reaching the highest international standards for the entire spectrum of hair diseases from common androgenetic alopecia and seasonal hair loss to challenging cases of cicatricial alopecia.

Androgenetic alopecia
(male and female pattern)

Diffuse hair loss

Dysplastic effluvium

Alopecia areata

Cicatricial alopecia
(Lichen planopilaris, Discoid Lupus erythematosus, Folliculitis decalvans)

Trichotilomania and other psychosomatic hair disorders

Traction alopecia

Trichoscopy

Trichoscopy is the term coined for imaging of the scalp and hair with use of a dermoscope. Trichoscopy is a non-invasive and reliable diagnostic technique for hair and scalp disorders, hair and scalp structures may be visualized at many-fold magnification, facilitating the exact diagnosis and classification of the underlying hair disorder

In the hands of the experienced Dermatologist trichoscopy is a very useful tool avoiding unnecessary interventional procedures such as skin biopsy and optimizing the follow up of our patients with hair disorders.

Digital trichogramm (Trichoscale®)

We examine your scalp with a full HD camera for video-trichoscopy. The brilliant microscopic images allow a precise diagnosis as well as an objective statistical evaluation of the treatment success. The computer-assisted hair analysis with FotoFinder ® technology allows us to determine whether your hair loss is pathological as well as to assess the extent.

With the Fotofiner® Trichoscale® software we can measure hair count, hair density, hair thickness, rate of hair that is growing (anagen vs. telogen hair) as well as other parameters. Based on these results we can develop a personalized treatment for you.

The examination

The hair is clipped in a small area of the scalp which can easily be covered by surrounding hair. After 3 days, the clipped hair is dyed and then analyzed (computer assisted hair analysis). Hair which grew or did not grow become visible and help us determine the quality and the extent of your hair loss.

  • Painless examination without epilation
  • Hair cosmetics allowed
  • Objective and accurate procedure
  • Determine the best therapy for your condition
